Diffusion of Innovation

Twitter surfaced into this world in 2006, in San Francisco, California. Twitter is a social media platform that has grown and developed over the years it has been around. From starting out as a way of personal interaction with tweets capping out at 140 characters, Twitter has changed so that the user can acquire the most recent news, see their sports team is doing, and even keep up with what their favorite celebrities have been doing. In 2017, the maximum amount of characters allowed in a single tweet doubled, allowing for some big changes to occur.
After increasing the limit of characters, Twitter became a much more popular platform, especially from a journalism aspect. Personally, I am a huge NBA fan, so Twitter makes it easy for me to see play-by-play tweets even when I am unable to watch the game.
Twitter had some many early adopters because it was the one of the first social media platforms where you were able to speak your mind. Since then, many people have joined such as news reporters and other analysts, making them the early majority.
Now that twitter has been around for more than 12 years, it has reached the point where there are still some people joining but not nearly the same amount that used to. The laggards that have just joined are people such as my parents who have found the usefulness of twitter. My father uses twitter as a quick source of news and also scores.
The one down side to twitter is that not everybody on the platform is a credible source. Some people are sensitive and others are just dumb which makes twitter a pretty wild place. If you follow the right people this will not be an issue and twitter will be a very useful source to you.
